About this rooftop tent

Mallory is a premium hardtop tent made by Naitup in France. It has a 90% recycled ABS hardcover which folds down over the tent when it is collapsed, making it very streamlined for travel.

This tent is designed to sleep 2 people – you should be able to get comfortable unless you are well in excess of 6′ tall. The two occupants can weigh up to 250kg combined.

With its robust alumimium shell and marine-grade fixings, this tent is designed to withstand wind speeds as high as 54 knots in the open position as long as all openings are zipped shut.

The tent has a zipped entrance on both sides and it has a large window to the rear. The entrance and all the windows have a zippable mesh screen to keep insects at bay. You can have the entrances and window fully open, you can close the mesh screen to let fresh air in and keep the bugs out, or you can zip them fully closed for privacy.

Inside there is a lightweight mattress to give you a comfy night’s sleep. It has an anti-condensation mat below to aid air ventilation. We supply an elasticated mattress protector and a top sheet for the mattress. You can then either bring your own bedding or sleeping bags, or you can hire a duvet & pillows from us. Just remember to take anything really bulky out of the tent before you fold it away.

This is an instruction video for Mallory. It shows you how you can set up and collapse the tent in just a few minutes.

Setting up & packing away

At our barn in Hawkshead, we fit the rooftop tent to your vehicle for you at the start of your hire, and we remove it at the end of your hire. If you do not have roofbars, that’s not a problem. We can hire you a suitable set of Thule roofbars that will work with most vehicles – just fill out the enquiry form below and we will check what you need.

A big advantage of rootop tents is how quick they are to pitch. Mallory can be set up by one person in under 3 minutes from arrival at your chosen spot to being ready to sleep in. It is just as quick to fold away.

You get access to the tent using the included telescopic aluminium ladder. We’ll demonstrate how to easily and quickly adjust the ladder’s length to match your vehicle’s height. The ladder will work with any car that’s up to 2.3 metres from ground to roobar level. When the tent is not in use, the ladder collapses down and stores in its travel bag. You can then either store it in your vehicle or you can stow it inside the tent if your vehicle isn’t too high.

Roof tent specifications

The roof of the tent is from 90% recycled ABS with a passive ventilation system to reduce condensation.

The main lining of the tent is made from ripstop polycotton. This material gives you the breathability and insulation of a traditional cotton canvas tent, combined with the light construction and easy drying of polyester.

The sleeping area is 210cm x 120cm. On your roof, the tent is 215cm long and 125cm wide. When closed, the tent is 28cm high. When opened, it is 150cm high. The total weight of the tent is 55kg. If your car is low enough for the ladder to be stored in the tent during travel, that adds another 6kg.
